Programs

Our groups have changed from last year, and we now have 5 divisions in our skating program:

bulletBadge Level
bulletPre-Juvenile
bulletJunior
bulletSenior
bulletAdult

And we have an excellent staff of Pros providing instruction

Badge Level

Badge Level follows the US Figure Skating Skate With Us guidelines and is divided into two main sections:

bulletSnow Plow Sam
bulletBasic 1-8

Snow Plow Sam is designed for beginning skaters, building from the simplest skills such as getting up off the ice and gliding forward to more advanced skills such as swizzles and stops. Skaters in the Snow Plow Sam program are supervised for their entire ice time as they progress through the 3 levels.

Basic 1-8 is designed to build on the elementary skills of the Snow Plow Sam program. Skaters move up through the levels by mastering basic figure skating techniques. Skaters in both programs can monitor their progress by keeping a record of their test results in their booklet provided by US Figure Skating.

Pre-Juvenile

The Pre-juvenile level (Freestyle 1-6) introduces skaters to the beginning elements of dance, as well as preparing them for testing and competition in Moves in the Field and Freestyle. Skaters still receive some group lessons at this level, but the emphasis is on independent practice and working with a private coach to progress at his or her own pace. Skaters must pass through the pre-preliminary dance tests with a partner and Moves in the Field tests before judges .

The criteria for the groups below may change yearly depending on the number of skaters we have at each level, and these changes are made for the safety of the skaters

Junior

To be at the Junior level, skaters must have passed all their Bronze Dances or their Pre-Juvenile Moves or Preliminary Freestyle. There are no group lessons at this level.

Senior

To be at the Senior level, skaters must have passed Juvenile Freestyle or all their Silver Dances or their Intermediate moves. There are no group lessons at this level.

Adult

Adults can participate as well In the Learn To Skate Program. There are group lessons and independent practice time. Many adults come just to learn to skate and to have fun, but some of our adults go on and test more advanced Freestyle skills. Adults can also opt to participate in either the Basic Skills program or the Intermediate level Freestyle program.
